Anger Management

I tried to post this yesterday on Kind Conversation under Words of Wisdom but somehow I managed to send it into cyberspace and there it may remain for ever. I will try again here today.

It struck me when I read this quote how very much anger does impact our lives and I could only imagine how much we would gain by "tempering" it.

Imagine your anger to be a kind of wild beast, because it too has ferocious teeth and claws. And if you don't tame it, it will devastate all things. It not only hurts the body; it even corrupts the health of the soul, devouring, rending, tearing to pieces all its strength, and making it useless for everything. ~Saint John Chrysostom

Truly Words of Wisdom to ponder.

Wishing all a grand weekend of peace and quiet!!!

Redemption~~

Holla, the Incarnate Son
Hath come to earth and fought and won.

Lullay, he lieth in tomb,
and for my soul he findeth room.

Lullay, I rest in him,
Weary spirit and weary limb.

Holla, we rise;
He leadeth me after him through the skies.

Holla, we compass about and hem
The golden gates of Jerusalem.

Holla, we enter in
Because my friend hath not known sin.

Hallelujah, I see Lord God and all is well;
Lullay, I rest in him.

Good Friday

...aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I thirst." There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, "It is finished." And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit." John 19:28-30

Holy Thursday

On this glorious spring day and in preparation for the celebration of Holy Thursday I offer this reflection.

Jesus come, my feet are dirty. You have become a servant for my sake, so fill your basin with water; come, wash my feet. I know that I am bold in saying this, but your own words have made me fearful. "If I do not wash your feet, you will have no companionship with me." Wash my feet, then, so that I may be your companion. But what am I saying: "Wash my feet"? Peter could say these words, for all that needed washing were his feet. For the rest, he was completely clean. I must be made clean with that other washing of which you said: "I have a baptism with which I must be baptized." (Origen, Third Century)
